BORODIN, SHOSTAKOVICH and WELLS
Friday 3 June, 7.30pm, Adamstown Arts at Adamstown Uniting Church
EVENT ENDED
Acacia Quartet
Lisa Stewart – violin | Doreen Cumming – violin | Stefan Duwe – viola | Anna Martin-Scrase – cello
Acacia Quartet delighted us in the first festival in 2016, and make a welcome return for the fifth festival, playing Borodin’s string quartet No. 2, and Shostakovich string quartet No. 8, for which Shostakovich wrote a dedication “In remembrance of the victims of fascism and war.” The program also features a work by Australian composer, Jessica Wells, “Dancing in St. Petersburg” which forms a segue between the sound worlds of Borodin and Shostakovich.
