RACHMANINOV WITH A CELLO
Friday August 12, 7.30pm, Adamstown Arts at Adamstown Uniting Church
Teije Hylkema (cello)
Grace Kim (piano)
A superb concert including the great music of Rachmaninov performed by Teije Hylkema (cello) and Grace Kim (piano). The concert will features the beloved Suite No. 1 for solo cello by J.S. Bach, and a new composition for solo cello by Ross Fiddes, and concludes with Rachmaninov’s great sonata for cello and piano in G minor, Opus 19. A romantic work of beautiful melody, in which the instruments are equal partners, making technical demands on both soloists, we are fortunate to have Teije Hylkema, who is Principal Cello of Opera Australia Orchestra, with pianist Grace Kim, to perform this work in the festival.
