Rod Barnes

Rod has had a love affair with his clarinet for 60 years after hearing recordings of Benny Goodman and Woody Herman, and seeing Don Burrows perform live.

From then on nothing could stop him. Even studying at university and working for a while as an architect couldn’t wipe out the absolute attraction of music. He finally succumbed and became a full-time musician/teacher.

He’s had the privilege of playing all types of music – orchestral, chamber, solo, jazz, big band, and even playing baritone sax in his son and daughter’s rock bands – culminating in this jazz collaboration of son, daughter and colleague.
