BRONWYN DOUGLASS

Bronwyn made her solo debut for Opera Australia performing the role of Anna Kennedy in Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda in Concert (2022), also performing as one of the Pages in Lohengrin (2022) and covering the role of Sieglinde in Die Walküre (2023). Having previously worked as a mezzo-soprano, roles for other companies have included: Rosina in The Barber of Seville and Olga in Eugene Onegin for Co-Opera, Flora in La Traviata for Opera New England, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly for Opera Projects Sydney, 2nd Witch in Dido and Aeneas for Brisbane Baroque Festival and Miss Baggott in The Little Sweep for The Australian Festival of Chamber Music.
Bronwyn is a dedicated concert artist, having worked with many companies within Australia. She recently performed with Sydney Philharmonia Choirs in their Ode to Joy concert at the Sydney Opera House, featuring Ethel Smyth’s Mass in D minor and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. Peter McCallum from the Sydney Morning Herald writing “Bronwyn Douglass’ high notes shone like light through mist”.
Previous concert highlights include Chorus Oz: Ode to Joy (Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and Mozart’s Mass in C) with Sydney Philharmonia Choirs (broadcast on ABC), Handel’s Messiah with Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Melbourne Philharmonia Choirs, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Tudor Portraits with Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, Opera Under the Stars with Teddy Tahu Rhodes, and Opera Galas with Queensland Symphony Orchestra, The Queensland Choir and The Brisbane Festival. Bronwyn looks forward to joining the cast of Handa Opera at Millthorpe next year in their “Stars of Tomorrow” concert.
