LOVE THAT HAT

Love That Hat first appeared back in 1995 and have been performing and dazzling audiences ever since with a charming blend of exceptional musicianship, an eclectic repertoire and cheeky humour.
Affectionately known as “The Hat”, this unique trio showcases Sue Carson, Dave Carter and Michael Stove – three stalwarts of the Australian music industry with a combined 135 years’ experience in live performance, touring, recording, and song writing. Each member has performed nationally and internationally, their list of collaborators throughout their individual careers including Alex Smith, Ian Moss and the Pye Dogs, Moving Pictures, DBM, 24 Strings, Bob Corbett & the Roo Grass Band, Bruce Mathiske, Mark Wells Band, Bliss, Special Branch, Loonatic Fringe, The Funbusters, Swanee, The Curvettes, Hussy, Killkenny, Troy Cassar-Daley, The McClymonts, Sara Storer, Adam Harvey, O’Shea, Beccy Cole and the Bushwackers.
Amongst them, they play guitar, mandolin, violin, bass, bagpipes and banjo. All members are also music educators. Sue is currently Newcastle Conservatorium Coordinator and lecturer in music at the University of Newcastle. Dave and Michael both work part time for TAFE NSW in music industry.
Love That Hat is the ultimate entertainment outfit, famous for their jaw dropping interpretations of classics by Queen, Kate Bush, Electric Light Orchestra and moving acoustic arrangements of gems by Crowded House, Fleetwood Mac, Sting and more. Love That Hat has always been driven to perform music that is challenging and rarely attempted by fellow covers artists. Their repertoire spans hits from the 70s to the current decade incorporating genres such as rock, pop, funk, folk, Celtic and classical, featuring quirky mashups, sublime harmonies and new takes on instrumentation.
