ALETA KING

Aleta King is the Director of Avondale Conservatorium at Avondale University, Australia. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (Conducting) from Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney and is a graduate of the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Academy in Hungary.
As musical director of The London Adventist Chorale Aleta gave a royal command performance for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for her Golden Jubilee Celebration Concert at Buckingham Palace. Aleta’s chorus master and conductor credits include Vivaldi Gloria RV589, Bach Magnificat, Bach Cantata BWV182 Himmelskönig, sei willkommen, Handel Messiah Oratorio, Mozart Vesperae Confessore K339, Beethoven Fantasia op.80,Fauré Requiem, Prokofiev Alexander Nevsky, Stravinsky Symphony of Psalms.
Aleta is artistic director of award-winning vocal ensemble The Promise of Avondale. In 2024 The Promise achieved two gold diplomas (Gospel Choir, University Choir) in the Open Competition of the World Choir Games (Auckland, New Zealand). In 2025 they were finalists in the Australian Open Choral Championships of the Sydney Eisteddfod.
As an experienced musicianship educator, choral and orchestral conductor, and emerging composer, Aleta is passionate about mentoring the next generation of young musicians and music educators. Aleta is delighted to be making her Newcastle Music Festival debut conducting Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle.
