FEDERICO BUCAIONI

Born in Rome in 1993, Federico Bucaioni began studying the piano at a very young age. A decisive influence on his musical development was his long-term mentorship with Maestro Lucia Bonfiglio.
He graduated with highest honours in Piano, earning his First-Level Academic Diploma in 2017 under Maestro Riccardo Marini and his Second-Level Academic Diploma in 2020 under Maestro Laura Mattei at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Rome. In October 2025, he also obtained a Second-Level Diploma in Chamber Music at the Licinio Refice Conservatory, graduating with highest honors, with a program entirely dedicated to Brahms.
Bucaioni has performed at prestigious venues in Italy and abroad, including Palazzo Sforza Cesarini (Genzano di Roma), the National Museum of Musical Instruments (Rome), Crystal Hall (Rogaska Slatina, Slovenia), Mazda Hall (Pune, India), Deshmukh Auditorium (Delhi, India), and Teatro Mazzacorati (Bologna).
He has won numerous national and international piano competitions, including First Prizes at the Rome International Music Competition, Città di Pesaro, Istra Star (Slovenia–Croatia), Rogaska International Art Competition, and the Grand Prix at the Alpin Triglav International Competition, which led to an invitation to perform in Bled, Slovenia. His artistic training includes masterclasses with internationally renowned pianists such as Enrico Pace, Bruno Canino, Roberto Plano, Roberto Prosseda, Alessandra Ammara, and Drafi Kalman.
In April 2022, he performed under the direction of Maestro Hector Ulises Passarella at the Teatro Verdi of Sassari, playing chamber music works by L. Bacalov, J. Lamarque Pons, G. Matos Rodríguez, Passarella, and other composers, initiating a fruitful artistic collaboration with the Uruguayan Maestro. In 2025, together with cellist Lucia Libassi and flutist Luca Quaranta, he founded the Trio Farrenc, named in honour of composer Louise Farrenc. The trio is currently planning a concert series for 2026 in Italy (Bologna and Rome) and abroad (Germany and Spain), with the additional aim of giving proper recognition to works by underrepresented women composers such as Louise Farrenc, Marie Bauer, and Mel Bonis.
In 2025, Duo Mìmesi (Federico Bucaioni and Gioia Barbera, piano duo) was invited to give two four-hand piano concerts in India, at the prestigious Mazda Hall in Pune and the Deshmukh Auditorium in Delhi, performing works by Mozart, Saint-Saëns, Schubert, Respighi, and Rachmaninov, with great success among audiences and the local press. In 2026, the duo will tour Australia and New Zealand, presenting well-known works by Schubert, Rachmaninov, and Poulenc to Australian audiences.
