GIOIA BARBERA

Gioia Barbera graduated with top marks, honours, and special distinction in her second-level academic diploma in Piano at the “L. Refice” Conservatory in Frosinone, under the guidance of M. Giorgia Tomassi. On this occasion, she performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 and Liszt’s Reminiscences de Lucia di Lammermoor with the Conservatory’s Symphony Orchestra. She is currently furthering her studies with M. Roberto Plano and M. Giovanni Doria Miglietta at the Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo, while continuing her advanced training with M° Giorgia Tomassi at the Conservatory of Frosinone.

Born in Rome in 2001, she began studying piano at the age of nine. Over the years, she has distinguished herself in numerous national and international piano competitions, consistently ranking among the top prize-winners. Among her most notable achievements are: Second Prize (91/100) at the 6th International Piano Competition “Città di Acquaviva delle Fonti” (2022); First Prize (99/100) at the 13th International Competition “Francavilla Fontana – Città degli Imperiali” (2022); Second Prize at the “Alpin Triglav” International Competition (2022); First Prize at the 8th “Adria Art Fest” International Art Contest (2021); Second Prize (91/100) at the “Città di San Donà di Piave” International Piano Competition (2021); Second Prize (90/100) at the “Sonja Pahor” European Piano Competition (2021); First Prize (100/100) at the “Gianni Rodari” International Music Competition (2021); First Prize (96/100) at the “Città di Fasano” International Music Competition (2021); Second Prize (90/100) at the 13th “Luigi Cerritelli” International Music Competition (2021); Special Prize at the “Ise Shima International Competition for Young Musicians” (2021); Third Prize (87/100) at the 10th “Città di Massa” International Competition for Young Musicians (2021); Second Prize (94/100) at the “7 Note Romane” Music Competition (2019); and First Prize (97/100) at the “Città di Tarquinia” International Music Competition (2019), among others.

Gioia performs regularly as a soloist and chamber musician in both Italy and abroad, within the context of renowned concert series. She has appeared for prestigious institutions such as Fondazione Gioventù Musicale d’Italia (8th edition of “Note d’Estate”), I Concerti del Tempietto, A.Gi.Mus. (Francavilla Fontana and Frosinone chapters), La Stanza della Musica in Rome, and Piano Lab in Ceglie Messapica. Her concert activity has brought her to perform in important venues across Italy and abroad, including Crystal Hall in Rogaška Slatina (Slovenia), St Michael’s Church in Highgate (London), the Academic Hall of the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the A.Gi.Mus. in Frosinone, SS. Annunziata Church in Sulmona, Palazzo Piacentini in San Benedetto del Tronto, the Auditorium of the Conservatorio “Lorenzo Perosi,” Sala Gangemi of the Carlo Levi Library in Genzano di Roma, Castello Monforte in Campobasso, the Daniele Paris Auditorium in Frosinone, the Campitelli Cloister at the Teatro di Marcello in Rome, and Sala Eutherpe in León (Spain).
