Performers

Sax Blue – Rod Barnes et al

Hear the many shades of sound that are possible with a sax quartet. Leader Rod Barnes
(baritone sax) joins with Craig Parish (Soprano/Alto/Bass saxes), Cameron Harker (Alto) and
Shane Landry (tenor) to lead you on a journey through sound.

From laughs and chuckles to deep moods, there is so much to experience from these
seemingly brash instruments.

SAX BLUE enjoy playing a vast range of music styles from classical transcriptions to jazz
tunes and novelty numbers. Over a period of 25 years, Sax Blue have learnt to exploit all the
sounds of sax. Creamy, punchy and quirky sounds all serve in a repertoire that includes
baroque and romantic arrangements, jazz standards such as Blue Monk, Body and Soul,
Don’t Get Around Much Anymore, Good Bait and Down By the Riverside, and special tunes
like Tiger Rag and Bohemian Rhapsody.

The members of the group are Craig Parish (Soprano/Alto/Bass saxes), Cameron Harker
(Alto), Shane Landry (Tenor), Rod Barnes (Baritone). All are also members of the Dungeon
Big Band.

Sax Blue supported the internationally-known Dutch Swing College Band and is led by Rod
Barnes, also leader for Dungeon Big Band and Pacific Palm Court Orchestra. Rod arranges
much of the music for these groups.
